Summary
The Quick-Build Bus Infrastructure Project aims to deliver construction-ready bus infrastructure designs to improve bus rider experience on the Westside. If the designs are approved by the COG member cities, the improvements would be completed ahead of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic games.

In August 2025, the WSCCOG Board formally approved the consulting team to lead the Quick-Build Bus Infrastructure Project. The aim of the project is to deliver construction-ready bus infrastructure designs to improve bus rider experience on the Westside. If the designs are approved by the COG member cities, the improvements would be completed ahead of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic games.

The project will focus on segments of three of Westside’s busiest corridors:

  1. Santa Monica Boulevard west of Beverly Hills;
  2. Sepulveda Boulevard between UCLA and LAX and;
  3. The combined north-south La Cienega Boulevard and Jefferson Boulevard corridor from West Hollywood to Westchester.

These corridors are among the busiest in the region. If approved for construction, the design improvements will provide a pathway for long term implementation to improve the rider experience while also preparing the Westside for a car-free 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

As a subconsultant to STV, The Robert Group will begin gathering feedback from Westside communities on the draft infrastructure designs in late January. TRG will lead six Community Workshops in collaboration with the COG, Cities, and project team. These workshops will serve as an opportunity to inform the public and stakeholders of the project and to capture feedback from community members to inform the design of the quick-build bus infrastructure. To reach communities where they are, TRG will also host pop up events within the corridor communities, targeting community members who currently use transit or frequent the corridor areas.
